Yuki Horikoshi Solo Exhibition「Architectural Drawings of Texture|Extended」

Art

Exhibition Outline

This exhibition presents a selection and reconfiguration of works from Yuki Horikoshi's solo exhibition Architectural Drawings of Texture, held at CREATIVE HUB UENO "es" in 2026.
This exhibition explores the theme of "the experience of texture" through drawings created alongside architectural design practice and accompanied by explanatory texts. The works include conceptual drawings for architecture and landscape projects, as well as illustrations and cover images for picture books, textbooks, and online articles. By bringing together drawings made for different purposes, the exhibition introduces a "third architectural drawing" that lies between a diagram and a picture.

[Artist's Statement]

The experience of texture in a space is a complex sensation that emerges over time through the interaction of vision and tactile memories. "Architectural Drawings of Texture" is a drawing method developed to represent invisible connections across different scales and domains, such as the relationship between architecture and the surrounding landscape, or the subjective continuity embedded within a building. The experience of architecture is constantly shaped by climate, time, and the condition of the body. Through these drawings, I have sought to depict the coexistence of subjective and objective experience--something that cannot be fully captured either by abstract architectural drawings or by realistic computer-generated images. Through this approach, I aim to develop forms of architectural design that embrace complexity rather than reduce it, allowing complex phenomena to appear in all their richness.
