Kei Kakegawa Solo Exhibition
■Artist's Statement for This Exhibition
Along with the blessings of heaven and earth, like dew that nurtures all things, plants of many kinds begin to sprout and grow.Each day, I paint while wishing to capture even a fragment of the fresh and beautiful scenery of this living planet.
When paint and water meet, they spread and blend, creating colors and forms by chance.
I would be delighted if you could enjoy, even just a little, this world of colors that seems to breathe like living beings.

<Profile>
Kei Kakegawa
Born in Mitaka, Tokyo. Currently based in Ibaraki, Japan.
After completing the research student program in the Department of Design at Tokyo Polytechnic University in 2011,the artist has continued to present works primarily in Tokyo. In addition to solo exhibitions in Japan, they have participated in art events and have also been involved in fabric design and stage set production.
At present, while raising children, the artist has come to deeply appreciate the richness of having art within everyday life, and continues to create works at home.
With an approach that embraces the accidental blending and flowing of paint, the artist captures and gathers the forms that emerge, depicting a world of colors they find beautiful. Through their paintings, they hope to create"another place to return to" -- a space that becomes an entry point for dialogue with oneself when one's gazehappens to meet the work.
