A Bowl of Stillness: Tea Ceremony Exclusive

2026/8/22 8:00am-10:30am
This experience has finished

Held in the meditation room on the hotel's basement level, A Bowl of Stillness is an intimate tea ceremony for up to six guests, curated by tea master Fukutaro Nakayama. It offers a quiet space to sit with a single bowl of tea.

Gojozaka, where the hotel stands, has been a center of Kyoto ceramics for over 400 years. Its closeness to the imperial capital drew influences from many cultures and commissions from generations of patrons, producing an extraordinary diversity of ware -- a diversity that continues in the pottery made here today.

Tea ceremony, tea bowls, tea, and sweets: all of these were nurtured in this very town.

To visit this place in Kyoto and drink tea grown from this land is not simply to enjoy matcha as a passing trend. It is to connect, through your own body, with the land and history of Gojozaka, Kyoto.

This program is open to everyone, not just hotel guests.
