[5/11・12] Shitaya Shrine Festival - Seeking participants to carry the mikoshi

Saturday, May 11th, Sunday, May 12th, 2024
This experience has finished

The Shitaya Shrine Festival has a history of over 1,000 years, and is known as the earliest summer festival in the Tokyo shitamachi area. The Shitaya Shrine Festival is celebrated on alternating years with the "true festival" which features a parade of the shrine's mikoshi portable shrine and the "shadow festival" which features the town council's mikoshi. 2024 is a year of the true festival, and the streets will be bustling with a lively crowd of attendees.

The streets around the shrine will be lined with countless colorful street stalls, but the star attraction is the grand mikoshi paraded on the shoulders of a vigorous throng of carriers.

Thanks to the cooperation of the local Kurumazaka Town Council, guests of NOHGA HOTEL UENO TOKYO can join as mikoshi carriers! (limited to first 10 guests only)

Why not take the opportunity to put on a NOHGA HOTEL happi coat and have a priceless, first-hand experience carrying a mikoshi in a traditional Japanese festival?
